We have a rich history and have been providing residential aged care for more than 40 years.
What we need
We are searching for a qualified and experienced Chef who wants to build meaningful relationships and make a difference in the lives of our aged care residents. Reporting to the Hospitality Services Manager, your will be responsible for:
- Leading daily kitchen operations and ensuring compliance with Food Safety Plans, hygiene regulations,WHS requirements and aged care standards.
- Preparing, cooking and serving nutritious meals and mid-meals, including special diets tailored to individual resident care plans and preferences.
- Catering for a range of dietary requirements including diabetic, gluten-free, coeliac, high-protein and low-protein diets in consultation with dietitians and nursing staff.
- Managing food ordering, deliveries, stock control, storage, kitchen budgets and minimising food wastage.
- Supervising, rostering, training and mentoring kitchen staff, ensuring safe operation of kitchen equipment and ongoing capability development.
- Engaging with residents, families and colleagues to deliver an exceptional dining experience and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Maintaining high standards of food quality, consistency, portion control and customer service.
- Support Hospitality Services Manager with menu design and implementation.
What you bring to the role
Proven experience in safe food preparation, storage and delivery, a clear understanding of WHS, be confident in medium-high volume meal preparation and demonstrate the following:
- Certificate lll in Commercial Cookery or equivalent (Essential)
- Experience in aged care or bulk cooking (Essential)
- Knowledge of texture-modified diets (Essential)
- Excellent community skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Understanding of Australian Food and Beverage standards
- Confidence to satisfy the relevant checks required by legislation or policies
- A desire to create a positive experience for our residents
